Taking new form.

If you didn’t know already, I started a project my freshman year to collect as many memories as I could with an Instax camera that I got as a graduation gift. You can read more about it here.

The polaroid wall was now packed away in boxes, sitting in my basement and not nearly as appreciated as it was in my apartment in college. Once we’d leave college, there’s be slim to no chance my friends would ever enjoy the nostalgia of seeing all these memories in one place… But I had something up my sleeve. I had an idea for a graduation present for all my friends where they’d be able to enjoy all the polaroids we’ve taken and in a form factor, they’d actually use.

After many days spent scanning, on the phone with manufacturers for quotes and photoshopping until my eyes grew tired, I created my very own deck of cards. Entirely handcrafted, I poured my heart and soul into every detail of the deck of cards.

I included hidden easter eggs such as incorporating the original sign from the polaroid wall, Spotify codes to our friend group’s favorite songs, and our appartment number from our sophomore year. Within the deck itself are 52 of our most memorable polaroids printed individually onto each card.

With this, the polaroid wall takes new form in the shape of a deck of cards. I’ve successfully archived these moments within our lives, however the preservation and rememberance of these memories is what’s most important.
